What shape should the vase be? Should it be wide at the bottom and narrow at the top? How tall should it be? Does the material matter? There is a huge choice when it comes to vases, so we're going to give you a little guide to help you find the perfect vase for the bouquet you've received! The perfect vase will hold the bouquet together, but also have enough space for it to open up so you can enjoy it!
The best material for your roses
The best thing for your roses is to use a glass vase. Glass is smooth all around, which means that when you clean the vase, the glass actually gets clean. A ceramic vase is not smooth on the inside. Ceramic has all kinds of nooks, crannies and air bubbles in the material. Bacteria will remain there, no matter how hard you try. We understand that it can be very beautiful when a vase has a colour, but in that case, it is better to look for a glass vase that has a colour or a nice shape.
The solution for children running around
We understand that you may prefer not to have a heavy glass vase on the table, because a vase full of water and your beautiful bouquet of roses can become quite heavy. We understand that it's a risk when your children are playing at home, that the vase might get knocked over. Then you'll have glass all over the floor and, in the worst-case scenario, someone will step on the glass. The solution: acrylic vases. Just as clear as glass, just as easy to clean, just as beautiful and unbreakable!
Cleaning your vase
You can, of course, simply clean your vase with washing-up liquid. For an extra clean effect, you can also use a drop of bleach. That's all you need. Make sure you rinse the vase thoroughly and dry it afterwards. We want to avoid any water remaining, as this can provide a breeding ground for bacteria.

The shape of the vase for your bouquet
The shape of the vase you choose will make all the difference to how the bouquet will look. It is best if the neck of the vase is slightly narrower. A wide neck will cause your bouquet to fall apart. Make sure that the stems have enough space at the bottom of the vase to drink and come back together in the neck of the vase. Think of the shape of a triangle, for example, but a round or oval vase can also be very beautiful!

The height of the perfect vase
The perfect vase is between half the stem length and two-thirds of the stem length of your roses. Are your roses 50 cm long? Like the soft pink Sweet Revival rose or the orange Confidential rose, for example? Then the best height for your vase is between 25 and 30 cm. Do you have roses that are 60 to 70 cm long? Then look for a vase between 30 and 35 cm high. (Keep in mind that you will need to trim the stems and then again after a week.)
What about the width of the vase?
That depends a little on how thick the buds and stems are. We indicate approximately how many roses each vase can hold. We take into account the different types and sizes and can therefore give a good range of the number of roses that will look good in the vase. This is an indication and may vary slightly, but always make sure that the roses have enough space to drink and open up.
